I Survived Hot Yoga!

Water Bottle From Primark

This week I tried Hot Yoga for the first time. I’ve been desperate to get fit, healthy and strong but the gym just wasn’t doing it for me. I was spending money on membership and personal trainers but wasn’t motivated and didn’t feel better for doing it.

One of the girls I work with is a huge advocate of Hot Yoga and feels so much better for going, so I thought “why not??”. Luckily, there’s a hot yoga studio literally down the road from where I work so it was perfect!

Turning up and having to take my shoes off before I got into reception reinforced that I was now in the Yogi world. I got there about 15 minutes before the session and there were already people (or Yogi’s) laying on mats, meditating. I obviously had no idea what the etiquette was – do I join them or do I exude a “newbie” aura that will be laughed at for trying to be one of them? I eventually decided to lie down and join them, occasionally peering out of one eye to make sure no one had sat up.

Honestly, you will never sweat as much as you will at Hot Yoga! I didn’t even realise I could sweat so much without wanting to cry from a nightmare stitch! I’m not going to lie – it wasn’t easy and towards the end I was wishing to hear the words “that’s the end of the session tonight”, but I honestly think this could be my newfound hobby.  I say this now but I’ve only been to three sessions, so I’m not going to hold my breath but for now it’s great!
